Hairy Woodpecker
This was an interesting bird. I seem to recall one other time seen a Hairy Woodpecker with yellow tail feathers, but when I saw this one I decided to check the literature and see if I could find an explanation. I couldn't find any mention of yellow on the tail of Hairy Woodpeckers! This picture doesn't show it as well as it displayed in the field. These feathers were a bright yellow. Has anyone else seen this?
